    Sharon K. Lieblich presented her 8th annual Updates on the Law Seminar to the Virginia State Bar Convention in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

    Mrs. Lieblich covered many exciting legal issues including recent developments in Virginia law and legislation regarding same-sex relationships, as well as the controversy over the Virginia statue prohibiting mental health care providers from testifying against parents in custody trials.

    Lieblich & Grimes, P.C. Holds Loudoun Office Opening Gala

    Lieblich & Grimes, P.C. hosted a party to celebrate the opening of its new office in Lansdowne, Virginia on Thursday evening in the lobby of the brand-new Lansdowne Executive Center, home to the firm’s Loudoun office. Guests included The Honorable Rosemarie Annunziata, retired Chief Justice of the Virginia Court of Appeals, and Tony Howard, President and CEO of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. Sharon Lieblich and Carolyn Grimes, principals of the firm, expressed gratitude to their colleagues, family, and friends for their support in this exciting new venture. Ms. Lieblich said that “we are thrilled about being able to reach out to the rapidly expanding communities in Loudoun and Western Fairfax, as we have been seeing a growing need for attorneys who provide family law services in these areas.”

    Guests dined on hors d'oeuvres and pastries while networking and touring the new offices. The evening culminated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Mr. Howard, who graciously welcomed Lieblich & Grimes, P.C. into the Loudoun business community. Lieblich & Grimes, P.C. will continue to maintain its main office in Alexandria, Virginia

    Carolyn M. Grimes is honored as Local Bar Leader of the year by the Virginia State Bar.

    The Virginia State Bar honored Carolyn M. Grimes as the Local Bar Leader of the Year in recognition of her many years of service to the Alexandria Bar Association, including her tenure as President from 2004-2005 and Immediate Past President from 2005-2006. She has also served as Treasurer and Director in prior years.

    During Ms. Grimes’ tenure as President of the Alexandria Bar, she played an instrumental role in founding the Beat the Odds scholarship program in Alexandria Virginia, a program created by the Children’s Defense Fund where local organizations award scholarships to local youths who have overcome significant obstacles in their lives and gone on to attend college or pursue productive career paths. Ms. Grimes’ has received numerous awards for her dedication to community service, including the 2001 Legal Services of Northern Virginia Pro Bono Attorney of the Year.

    Law Day Named Alexandria Bar Association Committee of the Year

    The Alexandria Bar Association honored the Law Day committee as the bar association’s 2005-2006 committee of the year at the monthly bar meeting this past Thursday. Elizabeth Ross, committee chair, accepted the honor, which has been inscribed on a plaque displayed in the bar association’s office at the Alexandria Court House. Ms. Ross thanked the thirty-plus bar members who volunteered their time to educate T.C. William’s high school students about their legal rights, contemporary legal issues, and the American Bar Association’s theme this year on the separation of powers.
